The Postal Employees'
Relief Fund: Taking Care of Our Postal
Family
Sometimes letter carriers are a beacon of hope to people brought to their knees by a natural disaster, bringing vital supplies or documents--and a reminder that life will be normal again--to customers hit by a storm, flood or fire.
But postal workers can also be victims.
To look out for our postal family, the NALC supports the Postal Employees Relief Fund (PERF).
For more information on PERF, please go to NALC's website.
Note to North Carolina letter carriers:
If you were
affected by the recent hurricane, have your branch president send a
letter to State President Eddie Davidson @ 300 Gwen Road,
Hillsborough, NC 27278 and request funds from the N.C.
Letter Carrier Relief Fund. Also, you can contact Wayne White
@ P.O. Box 1121, Smithfield, NC 27577 or 1-800-325-1185 and
Arslan Uniform Company may be able to
help.
Don Lyerly Appointed Region 9
RAA
NALC President Fredric Rolando has appointed West Coast Florida Branch 1477 member Don Lyerly as a regional administrative assistant (RAA) for NALC Region 9, which serves letter carriers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Lyerly began representing the NALC as a shop steward in 1996, and since then has served in various positions, including arbitration advocate, Branch 1477 executive vice president, president of Fort Myers, FL Branch 2072 and district chairman for the Florida State Association of Letter Carriers.
Most recently, Lyerly served as a primary Dispute Resolution Team member. He graduated from Leadership Academy Class 7 in 2009.
His appointment is effective Sept. 26.
