Needed: Leaders Who Support Letter Carriers

By the time you read this article, the brutal hot summer will be gone and we will be in the fall season. With that comes the “Big Election” for our president for the next four years. Please exercise your right as a citizen of this country and go out and vote.

Thanks to all those in our union who will be working hard to get officials in office, those who are labor and union-friendly.

We need leaders who still believe in the Letter Carrier that binds our country together. We need those who will fight for our jobs, wages and benefits.

Until next time, always be safe and continue to do a good job every day for our customers.

There's a Lot Going On. Get Involved!

Fall and the holiday rush is upon us now. I know all carriers are working long hours this season. Congratulations to those CCAs who were recently converted to full-time carriers. I hope you will be active in the NALC UNION by being a E-activist, a contributor to the letter carrier political action fund (PAC), and attending UNION functions within your branches. We need new people willing to step up and be involved.

Our Health Benefit Plan is now enrolling this open season (Nov. 9 - Dec. 14). It is a great plan so be sure to check it out too. We would love for you to join.

On Oct. 25th), the executive board had a called meeting from President Eddie Davidson, about concerns for our state union and this newspaper.  If you have moved please update your addresses with your local branch so you will get publicatons from the local, state and national union.

We also discussed our affliation with the AFL - CIO , and what bylaws will be proposed at our next State Convention in June 2017.

I wish everyone Happy Holidays and be safe out there.

Another Great State Convention

We have recently had our North Carolina State Convention and a lot was learned there.

Congratulations to all our officers who were elected and those who were re-elected to our state executive board. We gained some new faces and we also have some in a much different role.

We were honored to have our national president Fred Rolando, our NBA Kenny Gibbs and his staff there to tell us about some things that that are coming in the future concerning our jobs as letter carriers. So stay tuned and informed as the changes come.

Let’s Stay Focused

Happy 2014 to all!

As we begin a new year, let’s continue to stay focused on the issues that we face with our jobs.

Many regular, long time carriers are retiring now and we have the newly created City Carrier Assistants (CCAs). We have to make sure that these employees are trained properly and are doing the job  right according to the handbooks and manuals. These are the future employees and we have to be diligent in training them right.

CCAs, please follow the rules and take pride in this job. Do not run routes and be sure to take your lunch and your breaks. You’re entitled to these.  Don’t be intimidated by management. Just do your job to the best of your ability and always, ALWAYS, be safe!
